On my first week here in Australia, I learned that my friend and his friends were in warehousing jobs. They said that it would be the best place to start especially that my license as an Electrical Engineer would not be accredited here. I asked for the training provider they studied in and gave them a chance to work as warehouse personnel.Unfortunately I focused first on the documents I had to accomplish upon arrival. When I gained interest in entering, I asked for the course title and forgot to ask the provider. This led me to a site from search engine, which is different from the ones they took it. Indicated in their website is a government funded scheme for Australian Citizen and Permanent Visa holders. I called them straight away to learn if I am legible and sure enough, I was booked on the next training schedule.
They provide Certificate IV in Transportation and Warehousing. In this course is the Forklift license which is quite in demand for those who want to work as more warehousing is being erected. The Manufacturing sector is falling and the companies tend to import more. The course amounts to more than AU$4,000 and the forklift licensing alone is about AU$800.
Foresite training has branches in Epping, Sunshine and Keysborough in Melbourne. They have experienced, friendly and helpful staff. They also provide light lunch. Bring your lunch on Mondays if you are not a fan of salad rolls. The course runs for 6 weeks and may take longer if you have been absent for valid reasons. For those that are looking for work, they allow participants to make up for the loss and they will help you make sure you finish the course.
